DOCTRINAL STATEMENT OF THE CHURCH OF GOD IN WEST ALEXANDRIA, OH as it stands thus far:

We uphold that Christ died to save the ungodly, that is all mankind, from their sinful nature; that Christ delivers from sin and He sanctifies His Church; that we have the power to live holy if we are led of the Spirit once we have believed the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift freely given to all who believe in the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ.

We uphold that the Church can be made up of any two or more people who come together and assemble in the name of Jesus Christ; that it is our responsibility to assemble together regardless of what is happening in the world.

We believe the Holy Spirit manifests Himself in our lives in various ways. He does not work in everyone’s life always the same way, but God gives His Holy Spirit to those who believe in His Son. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father, but we have to receive Him through the Son.

We uphold that the Bible is the true Word of God inspired by God.

We believe that God created the world in 6 days through His Son and we believe the Son was with the Father from eternity past.

We believe in the Trinity; that God is One but God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are in perfect unity and are together God. The head of Christ is the Father and the Head of the Church is Christ. Christ taught what His Father taught Him and the Holy Spirit teaches us the things Christ taught.

We uphold that Heaven and hell are real places in the spirit world; that after we live in this physical world and die here, we will be judged according to our works whether they were good or evil and will inhabit either Heaven (and/ or the new earth) or hell eternally depending on that judgment.

There are many more things to add but for a more exacting explanation of our belief system, an entire systematic theological work would be required. This is planned for the future, Lord permitting; but for now I invite you to look at my (this author’s) commentary on this blog.
